The Moving Van Goghs was formed in Manhattan, KS in 1986 and had a cult following with their unique brand of rock/punk psychedelia and later became an integral part of a thriving alternative music scene in the Midwest that came to the attention of the national recording industry. The band independently released three recordings: The Moving Van Goghs (1988), Wintermind EP (1990), and Octaphenia EP (1992), toured, and supported acts that included: The Flaming Lips, Nova Mob, The Lemonheads, These Immortal Souls, The Swans, Too Much Joy, B.O.M.B., The Embarrassment, Scruffy the Cat, The Pedaljets and Love Tractor.
